Salty whipped feta, crunchy pistachios and a small drizzle of honey make an easy share plate for entertaining. The key is to blend the feta with enough creamy dairy to become smooth without losing its savoury character.

Dip overview

This whipped feta with honey recipe turns feta into a smooth share plate finished with pistachios and a small honey drizzle. The whipped feta dip should remain savoury enough that the honey acts as a finishing accent rather than the dominant flavour. A hot-honey version can be offered as an optional variation, with chilli added to taste after blending. Reduced-fat feta or a different yoghurt can change the texture.

Ingredients

  • 200 g feta, drained
  • 100 g thick Greek yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1–2 tablespoons honey, to serve
  • 30 g pistachios, roughly chopped
  • Black pepper
  • Flatbread or vegetable sticks, to serve

Method

  1. Blend feta, yoghurt, olive oil and lemon juice until smooth and fluffy.
  2. Spoon into a shallow bowl and swirl the surface.
  3. Drizzle with honey, scatter over pistachios and finish with black pepper.
  4. Serve immediately or chill briefly before serving.

Can I make whipped feta ahead?

Yes. Make the feta base earlier in the day and refrigerate it covered. Add honey and pistachios just before serving so the nuts stay crisp.

Can I use reduced-fat feta?

You can try it, but the texture may be drier and less creamy. Adjust the yoghurt rather than adding a large amount of oil all at once.

What honey should I use?

Use a honey you enjoy. A mild honey keeps the feta in focus; a more aromatic honey makes the drizzle more noticeable. Our honey and cheese pairing guide has more ideas.

Can I use hot honey?

Yes, if you want heat. Start with a small amount because chilli can quickly dominate the feta. See How to Make Hot Honey.
