Roasting ripe peaches concentrates their flavour and softens the flesh without needing a heavy dessert sauce. A spoonful of yoghurt and a light honey drizzle make this an easy warm-weather dessert.

Recipe overview

These roasted peaches with honey are a simple fruit dessert finished with yoghurt and a light drizzle. The same idea can be prepared as baked peaches with honey, while Jarrah honey gives the dish an Australian honey angle when its flavour suits the fruit. The method keeps the peaches central and uses honey as a finishing flavour rather than a heavy sauce. Roasting time varies with the ripeness and size of the fruit.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe but firm peaches, halved and stones removed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons Jarrah honey, divided
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 250 g thick plain yoghurt
  • 30 g toasted almonds or pistachios, chopped
  • Mint leaves, optional

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 210°C conventional (190°C fan-forced).
  2. Place peaches cut-side up in a baking dish and brush lightly with oil or butter.
  3. Drizzle with half the honey and roast for 12–18 minutes, depending on ripeness, until just tender.
  4. Stir the remaining honey with lemon juice.
  5. Serve the warm peaches with yoghurt, nuts and the fresh honey-lemon drizzle.

Can I grill the peaches instead?

Yes. Grill cut-side down until marked, then turn and cook until tender. Add most of the honey after grilling so it is less likely to burn.

Can I use canned peaches?

Fresh fruit gives the best texture. Canned peaches are already soft and may collapse under roasting; if using them, drain thoroughly and warm briefly rather than using the full cooking time.

What honey works best?

Jarrah suits the recipe if you enjoy its flavour, but another honey can be used. This is a culinary choice, not a requirement for a particular TA rating. See What Does Jarrah Honey Taste Like?.

Can I serve it cold?

Yes. Chill the roasted fruit and serve with cold yoghurt. The texture will be softer than fresh peaches.
